A lot of you have been messaging us with statements like these. Let us get something right straight off the bat: we are very flattered by this.

The bad news is: we don’t have any space on this podcast. We started making the podcast as a group of friends, and while we make our interview subjects “Honorary Babes”, it’s not like that’s some kind of fandom award or title. It’s just the name we picked for our group.

The good news is: if you’re female, if you love Sherlock Holmes (in whatever form), and if you share that love with people around you, then you are already a Baker Street babe. As our tag line says, we’re a group of friends that also happen to be massive Sherlock Holmes fans. We’re not “better” or “worse” than any other Sherlock fan or Holmesian, we’re not some kind of elitist club. We’re a bunch of female Holmesians who like to chat about Sherlock Holmes in front of a microphone. And we love the fandom(s).

So, rather than moping in the corner because you’re not going to be on the podcast, look around you and see if you can find Holmesian/Sherlock friends. Maybe there’s a Holmesian society you can go to. Or start a group of your own! Join a LJ community! Organise or attend a meetup in your area! Watch out for local theatre troupes that put on adaptations of the stories!

The Holmesian world has so much to offer. It’s organised itself in societies and scions for donkey’s years, and the Sherlock fandom is no different. So, it doesn’t matter whether you run a news site, create fanworks, write articles, organise a meetup or a con, hang out with a group of friends to watch the Ritchie movie… whatever you do, if you’re sharing the love of Holmes, you’re one of us.
