You’re Invited! “Sherlock Holmes in Brentwood” — Meet Our Holmes and Watson
Thanks so much for helping to spread the word about our new Sherlock Holmes play-reading series in Los Angeles, “Sherlock Holmes in Brentwood.” If you’re a Sherlockian in the L.A. area, we invite you to join us this Saturday, March 23 for the first play in the series, “The Speckled Band,” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself.
Meet our Holmes and Watson! On the right, Rob Arbogast (Holmes), who has appeared in such films as “The Prestige” and has guested on TV’s “Castle,” “NCIS” and much more, as well as being very active on the L.A. theater scene. On the left, Michael Matthys (Watson), who’s done TV from “Grey’s Anatomy” to “Buffy” and is an avid theater actor.
I went to a table reading last night, led by our superb director Robert Mammana, and was blown away by this entire wonderful cast. I think you have a real treat in store!
And if you think you know “The Speckled Band,” it’s fascinating to discover that ACD rewrote it pretty significantly to be more exciting on the stage. (It worked - his play was a big hit in London and New York in 1910.) All will be illuminated by our host and the curator of the series, eminent Sherlock Holmes scholar Leslie S. Klinger, BSI, who will introduce the play and show photos from the original 1910 production.
This event is a private party (for insurance purposes), but you can receive an invitation upon registering. Admission is free, but a $20 donation is suggested (profits will be donated to a Sherlockian cause…). The venue is a gorgeous small performance hall in a private residence in L.A. (location given with your registration). A limited number of seats are still available — but they’re going fast, so please act now! Visit www.sherlockholmesinbrentwood.com for more info and to register!
