And this would be a REALLY GOOD REMINDER to NEVER TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THEIR CHILDREN. EVER. With Amanda & Martin both filming it’s likely their children will come and visit at some point. If you see them, DO. NOT. TAKE. PHOTOS. They keep their children out of the public eye and wish to remain doing so. Respect their privacy and wishes.

Amanda asked us to pass on her thanks to all of you who work so hard to keep those photographs of her kids down. She really appreciates it and this is a matter obviously very close to her heart. If anyone EVER gives any of you sass for asking those pictures to be taken down, point them to this screencap here. Point them to this quote from our interview with her.

Kristina: I think, in general, how fandom works, it’s sort of like this big family, and if anyone acts out, it’s like, immediately, “You need to stop that!”

 

Amanda: Yeah, it’s great. You’re protective of the show and of Martin and Ben and the people that they love, and that’s one of the things that I love. I do. I love it. It’s really sweet and caring, and, like, everyone was very sweet when the picture of our children went up. Everyone was really lovely, and they were kind of very protective. Of course, we can’t do anything about that. It’s an unsolicited photograph. I had no idea it’d been taken, and the next thing, it was up. Martin and I are very, very careful about not involving our children in any of this, but you know, they have to see their dad. We have to go down and see him, and you can’t stop people from photographing. We are so careful about not getting them involved in anything.

 

Kristina: Yeah, I know.

 

Amanda: Everybody was very lovely about making sure that came down.

 

Kristina: I haven’t seen it for a while. I think the issue was that when they first went up, there was a big attack. It was like, “Take it down!” And then new people came in with Series 2, and they didn’t realize. I hope that it’s well aware now.

 

Amanda: Yeah, it’s lovely, and I really appreciate it. It means a lot to me that you care about that concern. Thank you. I do appreciate it.

She has been so kind and so sweet to fandom, the least we could do is to be amazing back to her.

Folks, scrolling through the Mary Morstan tag, now seems a good time for the Babes to talk about the Pineapple Principle.

Let’s say that you adore grapes.  Green ones, possibly, this being the Sherlock fandom.  Yeah?

You’re walking down the street, and you have a ziplock bag full of muthafuckin green grapes, and you are loving life.  You are snacking on the grapes.  You are happy.  They are delicious.  (Let’s say for instance they taste like Johnlock.)

Now let’s say, in the course of your stroll, you encounter a fruit vendor selling a pineapple to a pedestrian.

Answer this question for us: would you, seeing the person buying a pineapple, STOP AND SHOUT AND YELL AT THEM FOR BEING A TERRIBLE STUPID PERSON AND PINEAPPLE IS GROSS AND OMFG IT WRECKS MY ENTIRE LIFE THAT YOU ENJOY PINEAPPLES MY GRAPES ARE NOW RUINED.

You’re saying you probably wouldn’t do that?

Then it would behoove you to apply the same rubric to tumblr posts.  Like things, dislike things, all you like.  Talk about them!  Discuss your feelings!  But if you considered adhering to the Pineapple Principle, it would be a lot easier for us all to get along.
