“This illustration was made for the upcoming exhibition “Oficis Extraordinaris”, which will be part of the 2013 Valencia Book Fair. The theme, as you’ll have guessed, was to portray an “extraordinary profession” from a book. My choice was, of course, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, world’s first and only consultant detective.”Tools of a Consultant Detective by David Fernandez Huerta

This is AWESOME.

kafers:

Hello chums! Thank you to everyone who has already signal boosted my commissions post, you guys are stella! Unfortunately the situation has become a bit direr, which I will elaborate on now;

Basically I am traveling around the United States, and I’ve run out of money. I have people who can help me (I’m staying in Savannah right now, and will be shortly moving to Oklahoma. I know, I know…) but obviously these people need to pay for gas and food, and I want to offer them everything I can. So, emergency commissions ahoy!

If you want to look at my regular commissions, check out this post.

I am offering black and white images at a discounted price.

imageimage

£5 for headshots.

image

£10 for head and torso.

No extra charge for 2 characters, but I will ask for more if you want 3 or more in the image. Just message me or pass this on to interested parties, and I will be eternally grateful! Thanks xxx

Signal boost for BSB kafers. Protect her from the tornadoes in Oklahoma please.

Watching season eight of Criminal Minds, the whole double blind Spencer Reid and Maeve relationship, I was wondering how Maeve imagines Reid in her mind. He’s brilliant, he’s eccentric, the endless enthusiasm for everything interesting, and he spends his days solving intricate mysteries and chasing down criminals. With her love of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, it’s not difficult to make the connection. Especially when it affords her the rare opportunity to play detective as well when he involves her on casework. As a geneticist, is she the Watson to his Sherlock?Style/composition was inspired by Sidney Paget’s Sherlock illustrations— I’m grateful the ACD anthology from my parents’ bookshelf is packed with them, because they’re gorgeous. …and maybe it’s just me, but Reid dressed like that kind of reminds me of when Beetlejuice would dress up like Sherlock Holmes on the cartoon [laughs]. I think it’s the hair and the eye bags. [giggling]medium: Sakura microns, India ink washcharacters: Dr. Spencer Reid and Maeve (Criminal Minds; property of CBS)

For the Baker Street Babes charity ball! The info is in their tumblr, though I’m pretty sure the event is sold out! Hopefully, we’ll get some nice prints of this drawing for the raffle. ;D

There are lots of little things to find and details to enjoy in this piece, so I’ve honed in on some of them for you. ♥

This.  Is.  Amazing.

Hand painted cameo of Basil Rathbone, best known for his numerous classic portrayals of Sherlock Holmes (and the first person to say “Elementary my dear Watson). Plus, a dapper gentleman is always appreciated.

This one looks a bit off, the black pencil dust got everywhere and ruined the yellow. 8|
